Sai is known to be Sasuke's replacement. He does have to struggle with the title but he seems to be making a name for his own.
Another introverted ninja caused about the tragic loss of his brother. Sai is a gifted artist who has good eyes for details. A trait that is very useful to being a ninja. He is indeed observant and strategic in his mission.
Though being almost emotionless helped him in accomplishing his missions, it did him bad in the long run. He cannot conceive the meaning of friendship and brotherhood. He's even bewildered on Naruto's initiative to rescue Sasuke.
His great talent for drawing (which by the way, would surely earn a praise from Deidara) is also the source of his jutsu. He can make his drawings come to life by infusing chakra on it, also called “Super Beasts Imitation Picture.” Aside from this, he's exceptionally skilled in hand-to-hand combat as well.
